Routinely record the element for juvenile materials. For audio and video recordings, consider ratings, parental advisory warnings, etc. to be in scope if deemed useful for identification or selection.

In MARC: Record as an identifier using field 008 byte 22 (all formats except continuing resources, maps, and mixed materials). Additionally: Record as an unstructured description using field 521 subfield $a if deemed useful for identification or selection. Optionally: Record as a structured description using field 385.

Apply the option if deemed useful for identification or selection.

Prefer terms from the Library of Congress Demographic Group Terms thesaurus or Library of Congress Subject Headings.

In MARC: If recording a term from the recommended vocabulary encoding scheme, indicate the source of information using the $2 code lcdgt or lcsh.
